Hello all! It is a new month and I think it’s time for another “diary entry”. Recently I was introduced to the creative world of bullet journaling. In case you don’t know what that is it is basically a journal where you take everyday things and make them beautiful. Like grocery and to-do lists, calenders and graditude lists. It’s also a great place to do art/crafty things you normally wouldn’t.
Each month I (try to) make a calendar and special page in my bullet journal. It will include a calendar, birthdays, quote of the month, Bible verse of the month and whatever else I feel like adding… A book list maybe?
So, I thought it would be fun to do a post like a bullet journal page. 🙂
As you might be able to tell from the picture above, I am more relaxed now then I was on my last quarentine post. Even though I still miss people, ballet class and church I think I am settling down into the quarentine routine (no rhyme intended… Okay, maybe a little). Through God’s grace this time has turned into a very special time with my family and with Him!
“For though I fall I will rise again. Though I walk in darkness the Lord will be my light.” ~Micah 7:8
Verse of the Month
I stumbled upon this verse in my Bible reading the other day. It was one of those that pop off the page and say ‘look, I was written for you!’. I cherish the fact that even though things are dark right now, the Lord is our light. And even though I continually fail and fall, I will rise again because His grace is enough.
“I found it is the small ordinary deeds of everyday people that keep the darkness at bay… Small acts of kindness and love.” ~Gandalf: Lord of the Rings
Quote of the Month
This is my quote for the month. I love Gandalf, he is so wise and so funny in the dearest most helpful way. Live for the small things this week. For the family board game, the sunrise you forgot the splendor of, the taste of that perfect cup of coffee, your siblings sticky enthusiastic high five, your mom’s arm around you, your dad’s teasing. Ask your lil’ sibling to bake with you and get flour all over your noses. Watch a good old chic flick with your mom. Kiss the bruised knee, listen to the frustrated rant, pray with a friend over the phone, get your bare feet in the dirt. And fight the difficulty with laughter. Now that I feel all poetic I might also suggest picking up that poetry volume gathering dust on the ‘one day’ shelf.

An April Thankful List:
I think that graditude lists are so important! I remember once a few years back I was having a hard day. The difficulty mostly involved math and several problems that had decided to make it their aim to be as confusing as they possibly could be. My Mama, (who is very wise by the way) had me flip to the back of my math notebook and write a list of all the things I was thankful for. Well, I did and the change in my day was astonishing. I started out resentful but by the time ‘clouds’, ‘giant sunflowers’ and ahhh ‘chocolate’ had made it onto the list I was smiling. I still need to be forced to do this though and every time I do it helps. I see how much I really do have and I remember that it’s all a good gift. So I would encourage you to try it. The funny thing is that when you need to do it most that’s the time you want to do it least. Push past it and try making a graditude lists even if it’s just the existence of coffee and sunshine and running water. But never forget that we have something that surpasses all the problems: the amazing gift of salvation through Jesus’!
My April Thankful For List:
- Sunshine and windy days
- A wonderful time of prayer each morning with a dear friend over the phone ❤️
- Extra time with my two amazing sisters
- Over one hundred strawberry plants from a sweet friend
- A new exciting book series to read
- A Bible Study in trust (reading through, Ruth, Esther, Daniel and 1 Thessalonians)
- Chocolate… Specifically chocolate chip cookies made by my sister ahhh…
- Goslings in our back yard!
- Classical music

May is supposed to bring flowers and green leaves! It also brings Mother’s day. I am so, so thankful for my amazing Mama! I may be prejudiced but I still think that she is the best mum a girl could ever hope to have. Quickly I just want to say thank you to her for always listening and always pointing me to the true answer, Jesus. Mother’s day brings a great opportunity to show our mums how much we love them and appreciate all they do; and for me it was an opportunity to do some crafting!
Well that just about sums it up for today, friends! Happy May to all of you! I would love to hear if there are any verses or quotes that have stood out to you recently. Press on in the strength of our Lord and for the glory of His name!
For the Mending, Josie ❤️
This is so beautiful Josie! This was so encouraging to read, and such a bright spot in my day! ❤ I actually had one of those “pop out” verses today as I was writing a post of my own! 😀
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.” ~ Isaiah 41:10, 13
Thank you so much for all of the wonderful reminders and suggestions. Your blog is such an encouragement!
